1 University Pl
Chester. PA 19013
(610) 499-4000

I completed my graduate studies at Widener s main campus. My brief review will focus on the location. Widener is located in Chester, which is one of the worst neighborhoods outside of Philly. However, the immediate area surrounding Widener is not too bad. For prospective students who wish to live on campus and be near a city without actually being in the city, Widener is definitely an option. It is literally 15-20 minutes driving distance from Philadelphia. The campus is not large. The athletic facilities have been remodeled and are now really nice.

I toured Widener today with my daughter an I must say it was the best tour out of the last 3 schools I ve toured. The campus was clean. The tour guides gave a brief history on the school being an all boys military school which they have a museum on campus. The Wellness Center /Gym was nice we took the shuttle over an saw the exercise equipment an courts etc. Afterwards we went to the Science bldg where they showed us a classroom. Afterwards we stopped at the library an freshman dorm. The dorm was a nice size an you have to bring a fan no AC in freshman dorms. Also freshman can have a car on campus unlike other universities. It is a private institution an tuition is estimated at $53,000 a year. The tour guides were very knowledgeable an did a great job sharing there own experiences.

I attended Widener University of Fall of 2013 to Spring 2014 for my undergraduate studies in social work and I will say not everything was bad about the university and I loved the library the most and they had excellent disabilities service, best I have ever seen. On the downside I had issue among issue with the undergradute social work department, especially with their head. It wasn t that he wasn t nice he was at times but also condescending and REFUSED to give me an extra 10-15 minutes of his time. Since then I had left for better education. The univeristy is very extremely expensive so unless you have a trust fund oer get good loans with a lot of money or come right out of high school you will have a better chance here.
